Marketing – Group Product Manager

I graduated in 1993 from The University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors. This degree in which I majored in biomedical sciences, together with my interest in business, made a career in the pharmaceutical industry seem like an obvious career to pursue.

After joining Servier in 1994 as a medical sales representative visiting general practitioners in Tasmania, in 1995 I moved back to Melbourne in a hospital sales representative role predominately visiting specialists.   Following this appointment in 1997, I was promoted to a role in Marketing as an Associate Scientific Project Manager, which involved designing and implementing cardiovascular Phase IV clinical trials. This together with my sales experience provided me a firm foundation for my progression to Product Management in 2000.

Since moving into Product Management, which involves being responsible for developing and implementing an appropriate marketing strategy to address environment needs, I was recently promoted to my current role, Group Product Manager - Cardiovascular.   In this role I oversee the marketing of Servier's cardiovascular products.

Senior Medical Representative

I graduated in 2002 from Monash University with a Bachelor of Biomedical Science, majoring in Pharmacology. I decided to pursue a career in medical sales as it offered all of the attributes I was looking for in a career; a competitive salary, numerous opportunities for career progression, a flexible and evolving working environment, the ability to meet and build on relationships with new people and the ability to utilise my degree and passion for medicine and pharmacology.

Having a background in retail pharmacy, I knew Servier’s products were regarded as market leaders and that the company had an excellent reputation within the industry. What was also encouraging was meeting some of Servier’s existing employees and hearing reports on how well the company looked after its employees.

I have now been with Servier Laboratories for nearly 2 years and have been promoted to the title of Senior Medical Representative. In the time I have worked on my territory Servier’s products have grown significantly and the territory is currently one of the leading territories in the country. What I have found satisfying is the fact that I am working as a part of a team within my territory, but then that territory is a part of a larger team on a state and national level.

Being a part of such sales success has been extremely rewarding, and combined with the relationships I have made with many colleagues, it has made my time with Servier particularly enjoyable and I look forward to building on my career with a move into a hospital role.

Executive Sales Representative

After graduating from Ballarat University in 1993 with a B. App Sci (Nursing) I have travelled extensively around Australia working in various hospitals eventually making home on the Gold Coast.

Prior to moving to Pharmaceutical Sales I have worked in Neuro Surgery, Accident Emergency and predominantly Paediatrics for ten years. Although having senior roles in nursing, shift work and the lack of reward for hard work eventually took it's toll and a career move was needed.

Pharmaceutical Sales was an area that interested me and also a role that would utilise my medical background. There are many pharmaceutical companies, however when I was applying for positions, one company had a reputation from not only the pharmaceutical industry, but also medical professionals alike that was second to none. "Servier"

I have been employed with Servier for 3.5 years now and feel it is the best decision I have ever made. Although work is hard it is always acknowledged and appreciated by all levels of management. Not only do they have ongoing training programs but also career structures and goals to enhance my progression within the company.

I would eventually like to progress to a position of Field Manager so that I can welcome new team members, pass on what I have learned and see the enjoyment they get from being part of the Servier family.

I look forward to welcoming you as part the team...

Sales – National Field Sales Manager

After graduating from Queensland University of Technology in 1991 with a Bachelor of Applied Science I completed a one year Diploma of Education at the University of Queensland. Working as a teacher for five years helped develop my people management skills and although I enjoyed that time I was looking for a career change. I wasn’t sure what that would be, but I knew I wanted to be rewarded for hard work, to use my scientific knowledge and people skills, and have the opportunity for career progression if I worked towards it.

Servier was the first pharmaceutical company to which I applied. I knew someone working as a medical representative for the company and was impressed by their love of the job, the opportunities for overseas travel and the financial rewards that were possible as a pay off for hard work.

During the interview process I learned much more about Servier, things like their focus on initial training, the opportunities for career progression, and most importantly I got to meet the regional manager I would be working for and liked their open and honest style.

I began working on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland as a Medical Representative in July 1997 and was really impressed with the “in the field” training. As someone with little sales background this was really important and helped me grow the business on my territory. After 12 months of hard work and good sales results I received the award for “Rookie of the Year” and “Representative of the Year” at the National Sales Conference in 1998 which was a fantastic reward both financially and in terms of recognition from my colleagues.

I was promoted to a Hospital Specialist Representative role in Sydney in 1999, and in 2000 to a Regional Managers role in Victoria. In 2001 the Victorian sales team was awarded the “Team of the Year” for their contribution to the nations business. In 2002 I moved into the National Field Sales Manager’s role based at our head office in Melbourne.

I feel very fortunate to work for a company that has a strong “promote from within” culture. The advice I would give to anyone joining our company is to do the best job they can, and to achieve in their role. With success the rewards, recognition and an opportunity to develop personally as well as professionally will come.

Over the last few years Servier has assisted me in furthering my professional development through sponsoring some of the cost of my MBA studies. This sort of support, along with the opportunity to further your career within a multinational company, is the reason I believe Servier is a great place to start your career in the pharmaceutical industry.

Training – Associate Training Manager

After completing a Bachelor of Applied Science (Phys Ed) at Victoria University and a Graduate Diploma in Education at Melbourne Uni I went on to teach for 5 years. After 5 years I was ready for a career change and I started investigating my options. In doing this I undertook a short course on the pharmaceutical industry and from here decided this is the area I wanted to pursue.

I was initially attracted to the level of professionalism and opportunity for career development the pharmaceutical industry offers. After specific research into a range of companies I was particularly attracted to Servier’s commitment to the research and development of medicine, it’s ethical nature and the initial training it provides. In addition the various medical practitioners I knew held the company in high esteem.

I began working in Melbourne as a Medical Representative in March 2001.In February 2004 I was promoted to Associate Training Manager and have been in this role since.I am constantly challenged in my role and thrive on the learning and experiences. The training department consists of an amazing group of people who are extremely supportive and motivational.I look forward to a long-standing career with Servier Laboratories.

Regulatory Affairs Manager

Servier is the quiet achiever within the pharmaceutical industry. Its pipeline of unique products attracted me to Servier in 2001. It allows me to use my technical skills acquired from a pharmacy degree and postgraduate study in a commercial setting. Several years later I can honestly say that it offers great support for staff to develop to their full potential in a culture of excellence and interdependence. Would I recommend Servier as an employer? Absolutely.

Senior Project Manager

After graduating with first class honours in Pharmacology at the University of Adelaide in 1994, I relocated to Melbourne in the hope of landing a position as a Medical Representative. After being screened by a recruitment firm, it was felt that my background and skills were more suited to a position as a Clinical Research Associate (CRA). I had never heard of the position within the pharmaceutical industry, but I was curious to know more about it. I wrote to many pharma companies for employment and landed a role as a Pharmacy Services Assistant for a local Melbourne CRO (not quite a CRA) in order to get my “foot in the door”. From that experience, I later worked as a CRA for a local Adelaide pharma company and later for an international CRO back in Melbourne. I really enjoyed the role and the travel, but I had a preference to work for a pharma company again. I was fortunate enough to land a CRA job at Servier in Jan 2000 and was excited to have the opportunity to speak French again after having studied the language at secondary & tertiary levels.

At the time, Servier had some amazing products in clinical development (almost all first in their class!) that attracted me to the company. After 9 months as a CRA working predominantly in CV, I was promoted to the role of Associate Project Manager to take charge of a Phase II study with a novel anti-diabetic compound. From that positive experience, I was promoted again in Oct 2002 to a Project Manager and in Jan 2005 to a Senior Project Manager having the opportunity to lead many interesting clinical trials in the areas of diabetes, neurology and oncology. For the neurology program, I was also selected to take on the role of Clinical Operations Team Member (COTM) from Sept 2004 to Jan 2006, where I was the liaison between head-office in Paris and clinical operations across many participating countries. This global experience gave me great exposure to head-office research staff & disciplines and the Directors of worldwide clinical operations.

I enjoy the positive challenges of clinical research at Servier and feel fortunate to work with very enthusiastic professionals and interesting products that keep coming through the pipeline to clinical development. I look forward to working on many more exciting clinical projects at Servier and the opportunities to continue to pursue my career in Clinical Research and Management.
